As a group of college friends are gathered for their annual celebration of the new year (trying figure out what they still have in common), one of them is murdered. Great cast of characters, many rather unlikeable yet fascinating. Another good one by Foley."

"*SPOILERS* Not particularly original - there's a Ruth Ware book with almost the same premise. I enjoyed the way the setting was used to further the plot and the description of the surroundings but i think that was the only positive for me. It felt like at the end of the book, too many plot points were introduced at once, just to make the story more "juicy", but it just felt messy and surface-level. The drug mule business, for example - I don't think it did much of anything at all, and that's the only reason the Icelandic couple were introduced, besides the author trying too hard to make the obvious killer less obvious with useless red herrings. In general, the poor attempt at making the other characters into "suspects" was so silly. I really hoped the killer wasn't going to be the obvious suspect, but I was sorely disappointed, and making the cause some mysterious personality disorder was a little insensitive to people who actually have personality disorders - people with mental illnesses of all kinds are much more likely to be victims of violence than their perpetrators so this was not a cool propagation of the stigma against mental/personality disorders. Idk just my opinion I don't really care for this book "

"Not as scary or suspenseful as I thought it would be considering the premise. However, I loved the drama that comes from a group of friends stuck in an isolated area. I liked how some things mentioned earlier were explained later. At points it was hard to determine the perpetrator because everyone seemed to have a motive. All in all, definitely worth the read. "

"This was so hard to get into. Too many unnecessary characters. It was hard to keep track of who was who. They were all horrible person. I got bored before the ending and honestly didn’t care who the victim was. "

"This book had the same vibe as An Unwanted Guest… group takes a getaway to a mountain lodge, gets snowed in, and of course someone gets murdered. The character development was good but I also felt like this was a little bit all over the place. Lots of different storylines that maybe didn’t all need to be included, but either way it kept my attention and left me guessing. "

"2.5/5 Two chapters in, and I was ready for whoever the killer was to go off them all, please; they’re all so unlikeable worst than the One- by-one by Ruth wares characters, (which is a similar read to this one btw) and on top of that, they are there to hunt deer, yeah no, I was ready for them all to go lol they’re all very entitled well off people so again hard to care about Ooo who’s going to die and who was the murderer so it did fall a bit flat for me if you're a character-driven reader I don't know if you would love this I will say there were I a few chapters at the end there where i gasped at the drama and was actually having a good time, but for the I most part, the book dragged and you get a lot of information about these characters + backstory's that are somewhat unnecessary it felt like a filler more then anything the story wasn't horrible if you like one by one by Ruth ware you would really like this one it does have a great setting for a winter read "
