"I have never had ANY interest in watching The Godfather, but watched the TV show The Offer (mini series drama about making of The Godfather movie- really good!) and had to listen to book. Next up, the movie! It’s been 50 years since this book was published and I see why it’s a classic."

"The Godfather Trilogy are my favorite movies of all time. So after watching them originally as a teen, I then read all of Mario Puzo's books that I could get my hands on. The Godfather also happens to be one of my favorite books and I carry it with me when I want a quick, fun, easy read. It's a thriller, a real page-turner, tawdry, and more bloody and vicious than the movie. I like the deeper insight you get into some of the characters especially Sonny, and more of their backstories. There is a long section about some secondary characters that is strange and boring and pointless, but all in all, a terrific read that provides even more insight into the deep workings of the Corleone family."

"FIVE STAR CLUB! The Godfather is indeed a classic. I may have a little obsession with organizational crime and mafia type movies so I figured I’d enjoy a fiction novel on the subject. I was instantly hooked and was sad every time I had to put the book down to do some adulting.

My favorite characters were the Don and Mike. They had a calm demeanor, clever, and cunning minds. Jules was also a favorite. He was funny and quick witted, a refreshing character. Sonny was too much of a hothead for me. He had the balls to be in charge and even the brains but he acted too much on his rage. He didn’t control his emotions, they controlled him. What a shame, because everyone feared him. Kay, was annoying. Baby you knew what you signed up for. I feel like it takes a certain type of woman to be the wife of a Mafia boss and she just wasn’t it.

I like that Puzo gave us insight into every main characters story. His descriptions were also incredibly vivid. He crafted a world in which I was drawn into every aspect of it.

My favorite quote from the book (simply because it made me laugh):
“It was not perhaps the warmest friendship in the world, they would not send each other Christmas gift greetings, but they also would not murder each other.”"
