Lose yourself in the fantastic world of the arks and in the company of unforgettable characters in this French runaway hit. Plain-spoken, headstrong Ophelia cares little about appearances. Her ability to read the past of objects is unmatched in all of Anima and, what's more, she possesses the ability to travel through mirrors, a skill passed down to her from previous generations. Her idyllic life is disrupted, however, when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn and influential member of a distant clan. Ophelia must leave all she knows behind and follow her fiance to Citaceleste, the capital of a cold, icy ark known as the Pole, where danger lurks around every corner and nobody can be trusted. There, in the presence of her inscrutable future husband, Ophelia slowly realizes that she is a pawn in a political game that will have far-reaching ramifications not only for her but for her entire world.

"This book has been on my TBR for years and I am so glad I finally read it and I don't think I have ever read anything like it. It's the most fantastical dream-like world with a dark underbelly and I couldn't put it down. I also really loved how it was entirely world building without being in your face about it it was just so organic. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Oh, I should probably mention there's a pet scarf :) "
"I was skeptical about this book series, mainly because it was hard for me to go into at first, but I ended up LOVING it. The ending impacted me so much, I was left crying so hard! I still sometimes think about it! Great read, and would recommend to anyone looking for a fantasy book with a lead that isn’t a BA female, but a relatable clumsy female. "
"The world building was really unique and unexpected. I fell in love with the main character after a few chapters, although I will say it is a bit slow at the beginning and the tone takes some getting used to. The author has a lot of ground to cover to get you firmly planted in the world and she does it without a lot of exposition so it takes a little longer but I think it's worth it. Not really a love story in the first book though there is like a weird will they won't they energy. "
"YA forced marriage with a timid bookworm MC trope. If that’s your thing you will love this book. Not for me though."
