Emily Henry
“One of my favorite authors.”—Colleen HooverAn insightful, delightful, instant #1 New York Times bestseller from the author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation. Named a Most Anticipated Book of 2022 by Oprah Daily ∙ Today ∙ Parade ∙ Marie Claire ∙ Bustle ∙ PopSugar ∙ Katie Couric Media ∙ Book Bub ∙ SheReads ∙ Medium ∙ The Washington Post ∙ and more! One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming... Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute. If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

"I’ve read Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation and Book Lovers (5/5) was yet another Emily Henry installment that I devoured with love. Her books are therapeutic escapism that make me bask in an eternal bowl of warmth. They are the kind of books which make you believe in hopeful ever afters and loving a person who feels right. Nora, the main character, may have the frosty, all-business exterior of a book agent, but inside she’s just a softy who loves how stories are a portal to something beautiful. Stories move her, like they move me, and the man she meets, Charlie, is perfect for her in every way and possess such empathy. They just complement each other and make sense. The scenes of intimacy between them felt natural and meaningful as they learn everything about each other there is to know.
The sister relationship between Nora and Libby is also very sweet and pure to read about. And the book ultimately becomes an homage to Hallmark movies and the tropes that exist within them. I love how consuming this book, like a Hallmark movie, was just downright joyful and bubbling-over-with-ecstasy, ecstasy for being alive and finding and loving your person with all you have. This made me feel happy and at ease from worry as Nora and Libby take a trip from NYC to a small town to get some respite and relief from the urgency and chaos of a New York minute. I will always believe in the power of letting yourself go and becoming one with your surroundings as it is precisely this decision that paves way to the best release."
"Nora and Charlie are to hardworking New Yorkers who end up in the same small town in North Carolina. This is a sexy enemies to lovers. Both Nora and Charlie have some hard issues and emotions they need to work through. I love the honest way they form a relationship. It’s believable and they are both so witty! I also love Nora’s relationship with her sister. "
"When I tell you I found my new favorite romance I am not joking I love this book so incredibly much I could write paragraph upon paragraph about all of it our main chracters are so well written and thought out they have fully fleshed out personalities which made the story feel so real Emily Henry writes the best banter!! And makes the best tension it's immaculate I did not want this book to end literally I would’ve done anything to live in this story for a little longer I was sobbing at the end Usually romance books are structured in the same way this one was so different and original it was vary deep at time but also so lighthearted and funny at times like when I tell you I was cackling out loud I loved the trope of them being in the publishing industry but also being book lovers For some of the story it takes place in New York which I absolutely ate up it was such a easy read I finished it in two days but I definitely could've finished it in 6 hours I just didn’t want it to end and yes the spice in the book
10/10"
