"Fable by Adrienne Young is a fantastic start to a gripping series. As the first book, it brilliantly sets the tone for an intriguing maritime adventure. The story introduces Fable, a resourceful heroine with a tragic past, and her quest to prove herself and reclaim her place in her father's empire. The characters, especially Fable and the enigmatic crew she travels with, have rich backstories that unfold in engaging ways. I loved how the book combined survival, mystery, and a touch of romance, an exciting read that left me eager for the next installment!"
"The premise didn't make sense. A girl getting dumped on a island with an incentive if you can make it out I'll give you something, though I won't tell you what, till you make it. Honestly this was more like an outline of a story. There was no depth to the characters and relationships felt unnatural and thin. To me it seemed like the bones of a book I've read before.

The plot was literally non existent or maybe it was there but I just didn't care. The worst was Fable's inner thoughts which were utterly repeative. 'Nothing comes free.' 'Don't show who you care about.' I would say this was all predictable but nothing happened although that could still be predicted. Fable was a gem sage. I can't spoil this and tell you about it because I don't know myself. Was there other magics? Was this even magic? Don't know that either. Not that I recall anything of importance ever being explained here.

For some reason Iv gotten in a groove were space operas and pirate books excite me. So when Fable was diving and describing her surroundings I was in bliss, then for the rest of the book I wasn't. With a barely there plot and thin characters, nothing gripped me. Also while reading I had the distinct impression that I was waiting for something.......the entire time. A shocking twist, maybe even a plot. I trudged on waiting but nothing came. This truly could have been a standalone except for the cliffhanger. Another sad thing was the map was so sparse. Even though this takes place in the sea not much of it is explored. If it's not obvious I won't be continuing."
"I enjoyed this book! It’s very fast paced, and has a great fantasy/pirates feel to it! There is a *moment* between two characters, but all that’s described is the removing of clothes, and then it fades into black. There’s some violence and a bit of swearing (I mean, it’s basically pirates lol) Overall, great book. Bonus points for an unexpected twist at the end. I’m definitely going to want to read book 2 ASAP! 😹"
"I want more! Now!

REREAD: the world building and magic system in Fable is incredible. I listened to the audiobook this time around and could really feel the scenes unfolding around me. The descriptions of how Fable feels gems and the different port cities/ship descriptions added to the atmosphere. This is hands down one of my favorite pirate books I’ve ever read. I also cannot get over the underwater kiss! I also have no clue how I didn’t comment on that ending the first time I read this?! And the second book has been out for so long! It’s definitely my next read."
