Her once perfect life is in shambles and the thought of dating again in the age of Tinder is nothing short of horrifying. When news of her ex’s pregnant girlfriend hits the office grapevine, taking the humiliation lying down is not an option. Then a chance encounter in a broken-down elevator with the office playboy opens up a new possibility. Jamie Carter doesn’t believe in love, but he needs a respectable, steady girlfriend to impress their bosses. Laurie wants a hot new man to give the rumor mill something else to talk about. It’s the perfect proposition: a fauxmance played out on social media, with strategically staged photographs and a specific end date in mind. With the plan hatched, Laurie and Jamie begin to flaunt their new couple status, to the astonishment—and jealousy—of their friends and colleagues. But there’s a fine line between pretending to be in love and actually falling for your charming, handsome fake boyfriend...

"This one was alright.

It’s a contemporary romance, but with the emphasis on contemporary.

The main character is the highlight in the first part of the book. The love interest doesn’t get a lot of pages in this mediocre section. I had a hard time staying interested and only pushed through because of the promised romance.

My problem is that it was not only predictable but also poorly paced. Some scenes were included that didn’t have much impact on either the overall story or character development. The writing was strange occasionally."
"This is such a good read and probably more of a 4.5⭐️ to be honest. The only drawback is the main character can be a little long winded in her inner monologues but I think that contributed to her overall character. I really enjoyed the journey she went on throughout the book and thought it was shown well throughout all the different experiences she went through. The balance of supporting characters was perfect and I always love the fake dating trope. "

"Reminds me of a hallmark movie. Loved the strong female character, but the ending was corny and expected. Fun beach read."

"it was a very witty book and made me laugh so much. It is a pretty basic standard romance book but it’s super captivating!! Laurie’s character is so relatable when it comes to her emotions and Jamie is to die for!! If you like a slow burn I truly recommend this! The author is British so if you’re from anywhere else the slang might be a little hard to understand but that’s about all :) "
