“Homer’s “Iliad” is the basis of [this] story [which] convincingly translates the drama of the ancient world into high school society and small town life.” —Los Angeles TimesHow do you defy destiny?Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder.Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history. As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.“A gorgeous, haunting saga.” — Lauren Kate, New York Times–bestselling author of Fallen“The riveting plot twists and turns as the myth’s destiny translates into present-day terrors, dreams, and hopelessness, and its execution is seamless.” —Booklist“One of the most cinematic books I've ever read. Dramatic and intense!” —Sophie Jordan, New York Times–bestselling author of Firelight“A refreshingly strong heroine.” —Kirkus Reviews

"This was a really good story, but it took me several chapters to really be able to get engrossed in the story. It wasn't until the two families really came together that I got pulled in and I was swept away with the rest of it.

There is so much I want to talk about but a lot of it is spoilers. I loved the revelations of the family and the plot, I thought it was very interesting and different from others that seem similarly themed coming out around the same time. There was such a great cast of characters and I was completely intrigued with them all.

I'm excited to see how this plays out in the next novel. I'm eager to continue this story. This was filled with such great writing that I will definitely keep Josephine Angelini on my watch list."
"This series is so good it’s almost addicting. It starts out slow in the first part of the first book, but once it really gets going, you don’t want to put it down!! 10/10 recommend! "
