Featuring beautiful spray-painted edges with vibrant designed endpapers. She’s rewriting his love story. But can she rewrite her own?Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies—good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates—The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!—it’s a break too big to pass up.Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone—much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script—it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme. But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter—even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But . . . what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules—and comes true?

"I didn't like this quite as much as The Bodyguard, the only other Katherine Center book I've read, but it was still a fun, quick read. I liked Emma well enough, and I appreciated her personality and thought her tragic backstory was well written, but her obsession with Charlie was a bit much. I mean, the amount of times she says/thinks his full name is beyond ridiculous. Charlie himself took a long while to grow on me. He was mean and selfish for a large chunk of the book, and he genuinely irritated me. If I were Emma, I never would have stuck around in those first few days. He did redeem himself later on, but it took quite a while to happen. Forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine, and slow burn. Despite the slow burn, this book is fairly fast paced, and also squeaky clean. No spice to be had. It was a funny yet emotional read, and I did end up enjoying it! The ending was so sweet!"
"3.5 ⭐️ This was a cute read. I enjoyed how it felt like the FMC was talking to you at times. It did start slow for me and honestly the amount of times Emma repeated herself was flat out annoying. However, I did find several parts of it heartwarming and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get misty eyed a couple of times. Generally speaking a fun read that has the potential to pull at your heartstrings."
"I would give this 10 stars if I could. I always forget what a great writer Katherine Centee is. Until I read another book of hers and I’m blown out of the water. The story is so engaging but it’s not just a story. It’s a little manual of how to live your best life. And she is so optimistic you can’t help being optimistic too! Love this and it needs to be made into a movie. ******!!!"
"I was able to get a hold of this audiobook in exchange for a honest review. Katherine Center has become one of my automatic reads, and this book was especially funny.
This is the kind of book you want to pick up when you're in the mood for a silly romance (meaning you have to stretch what you think could happen in real life to have some fun in this fictional world), I couldn't help but smile and bookmark some of the cute quotes throughout this book. If you love positive main characters and very slightly pessimistic side characters, I would highly recommend Katherine's books.
In this book particularly, Emma is a strong female lead that sticks to what she believes in and finds evidence whenever someone doesn't believe it. For 10 years she helps take care of her father before she has an opportunity in LA to screen write with a famous screenwriter and her sister helps out while she's away. Emma seems so fun and adventurous that it seems hard to believe that she held herself back for that many years, it was certainly a treat to see what happens to Emma and see her prove everyone- and maybe sometimes herself-wrong."
