"4.5/5 ⭐️ I really enjoyed this book! Helen and Grant’s history is very messy and dynamic. Working on the TV show was a cool setting for a lot of the story. There was lots of relationship dynamics outside of the main character that’s were fun and interesting. Overall this read was great! I found the main characters fell into a relationship a little suddenly and kind of went from hate to friends pretty quickly. 1.5/5 spice level. There is a lot of scenes and mentions of sex once the characters are together but they aren’t very explicit. "

"This was such a great read. Lovable characters, spice level was just right for me, and the plot was unique. This book also addresses navigating trauma and some of the issues first-gen kids struggle to deal with when it comes to their parents. I feel like that was portrayed pretty realistically. The only thing i’ll say though is that the ending felt a bit rushed for me, which is why I’d give it 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, everything else was fantastic!"

"First off what’s the deal with car crashes in this book?? i also didnt really like the 3rd point of view it kept throwing me off alot with the random switching. Overall i liked the book it was cute how they helped heal eachother without noticing. "

"I had to call my sister several times to reassure her that I do, in fact love her while reading this. I wasn’t expecting to be sucker punched as soon as I opened the book, either. Grant and Helen are two of my most favorite protags that I’ve read this year, and Yulin Kuang is definitely incredibly skilled. Not to mention, she didn’t do that really obnoxious thing that so many writers do in the state of California where they must shout at the top of their lungs “HI, YES I KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT CALIFORNIA, LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT.” This was a near perfect book, honestly."

"This book had some really great parts but the longer I sit after reading it, the more I hate it. The plot is iffy at best- Helen has the personality of a stale ham sandwich. Grant is a lost puppy that just wants to be loved. The characters trauma bond and then once Helen decides she doesn’t blame Grant for her sister's death it's like 80% sex. No chemistry whatsoever. Just Helen with no feelings and Grant with all the feelings. Understandably Helen and her parents have a lot of unresolved trauma due to her sister's suicide but after the 5th time her parents got irrationally angry about Grant it got old. He didn't kill Michelle. Michelle jumped in front of a car going down a highway at 60 mph. Grant just happened to be the poor high school kid at the wheel."
