"If anyone wants to see this inspiration for Moby Dick, a Ron Howard production starring 👁🍬Chris Hemsworth👁🍬, it's leaving Max 12/31/23. I liked it fine, however the one noticeable drawback was how much of the filming appeared to be so very close up with zoomed-in shots, so much so that I found it hard to follow what all was going on for a number of action scenes consisting of several individuals on the ship. I wonder what the difference might have been had they zoomed out a bit more for those shots to capture more area? Or maybe something was off with the panning technique? Anyway, something seemed "off" in that regard and I can't quite pinpoint. Sure wonder if others may have noticed similar. (The "issue" I'm speaking of actually appeared to be throughout the whole movie, of which I thought appropriate for some scenes but not all.)"
"I had heard about this movie in a discussion of Moby Dick, but when I’d read numerous reviews that said it was boring or mediocre, I was discouraged from renting it. The very next day, I was at the library and serendipitously the movie was on the reshelving cart as I was walking by. I borrowed it, and am so glad I did. By no means boring or underwhelming- the adventure and survival tale which inspired Moby Dick is definitely worth watching and inspires wonder in me why there aren’t more movie adaptations of this unbelievable story. Now I’ve added the books written by two of the survivors to my to-read list."
"I really enjoyed this moving, I read the book in High School and never really got a proper depiction of the source material until this Ron Howard jem. If you like the book, you'll probably like this movie if not you still may enjoy it's grand scale and scope. "
