"I was always a huge fan of Nicole Kidman and still find her acting superb, her movies were strong with a plot and a story to them - what happened all of a sudden?? after her weak show ExPats and this absolute ridiculous movie, I think she needs to reconsider taking on any movies for a while. "

"Babygirl (2024), directed by Halina Reijn, is a compelling erotic thriller that delves into the intricate dynamics of power, desire, and self-discovery. Nicole Kidman delivers a standout performance as Romy Mathis, a high-powered tech CEO who embarks on a transformative journey that challenges her personal and professional boundaries.
The narrative is both provocative and thought-provoking, offering a nuanced portrayal of a woman's quest for fulfillment beyond societal expectations. Kidman's portrayal of Romy is both fearless and nuanced, capturing the complexities of a character navigating uncharted emotional territories. The film's exploration of themes such as control, vulnerability, and the pursuit of authentic connection is both timely and resonant.
Halina Reijn's direction brings a sharp and insightful perspective to the story, balancing moments of tension with introspective depth. The supporting cast, including Harris Dickinson and Antonio Banderas, provide strong performances that complement Kidman's lead role.
Babygirl is a bold cinematic experience that challenges viewers to reflect on the complexities of human desire and the often-blurred lines between power and vulnerability. It's a film that lingers in the mind, prompting discussions about identity, autonomy, and the lengths one will go to find personal satisfaction.

"For a movie with a big emphasis on sex and desire, I’m pretty surprised how tamed the nudity was. Granted the beginning of the film is a different story but nonetheless not too bad. Story is ok but definitely picks up in the later second/ third act."

"Within the first few minutes this movie became unbearable. It is a Walmart ripoff of 50 Shades of Grey, but somehow worse.
It’s incredibly unrealistic, awkward as hell and Nicole Kidmans love interest isn’t even remotely appealing, with negative on screen chemistry.
We had to shut it off, it was too painful. I also want my $20 back!

"I had such fun watching this movie in a cinema with people who didn't quite know what to do with themselves. More than once other viewers suddenly exclaimed, "Oh!!", when something they weren't expecting happened. I disagree with the other Likewise reviewers I read and think it was a fresh take and very sexy in parts. What are the different times in life we take, hold onto or relinquish power? And to whom? How do others react when we lie, or hide information, or try to gaslight them? The use of space is interesting too - enclosed space, crowded space, glass walls, open space... "
