"There are a few things this movie gets right. They focused on the doomed romance more to make you more invested in the outcome. While Brandon Lee was a martial artist, Skarsgard is not. So they made him more of an unstoppable tank like character with a one track mind to get revenge and save his true loves soul. There was some really good violence and gore in the o e long action sequence. However they did t have much chemistry to pull off the romance. It's way too long and gets a little boring at times. They do a poor job of making the villian threatening or physically imposing which makes the final confrontation very disappointing. Ultimately they don't do enough to justify this remake. The original was better. Please check out my podcast Mostly Low Budget Movies Reviews with Clarence for a full break down. On all streaming platforms. Link is in the bio. Thank you!"
"Honestly, had they not given these characters the same name as the original movie and used any of the other characters that are in the Crow lore, this movie likely would have stood on its own much better. It’s disrespectful to the original movie and what Brandon Lee did with that character - I can understand the frustrations many people had with this movie. "
"This movie was fantastic! The beginning was a little traumatizing but as it unfolds it just really becomes a well written masterpiece. Eric and Shelly’s love was so strong and sweet that Eric knew he had to do everything he could in his power to protect her name, however I did not watch the other movies before this one I personally don’t like watching the originals I make the jump and watch the very recent one and decide from there if I want to watch the originals or not "
"I came into this movie trying to be more optimistic and trying not to compare this to the original, but it’s hard when you see what the original did better. I feel that this movie tried to be like the first one and prioritized the aesthetic more than the story, which they failed at both. The whole “I’m broken and no one understand me” attitude and tattoos is overplayed at this point. The story is honestly whatever, but still lacks when it comes to the relationship, purpose, and honestly seems pretty stupid at times. Like in the first one they were about to get married while in this one they barely get to know each other after a couple of days and he decides to give up his life for her. Just seems so stupid. Soundtrack was pretty nice though."
