"The capitalist critique in this show alone makes it a must watch. I just found it sad that Boots had to inject so much weirdness around that message in order to get that message out through this medium but Boots did do a pretty good job in getting the message out, just like he did in his other highly trippy feature “Sorry To Bother You”. I definitely recommend this to anyone that is interested in left leaning concepts and ideas."
"Warning: THIS SHOW IS WEIRD/GOOFY AS S**T!!
Anything by Boots Riley is bound to be weird as heck but has a deeper message behind his projects that happen to draw everyone. This show is no different and I like it. A bit on the nose but good concept touching on how America has shaped its negative, racist view on African American men. I thoroughly enjoyed the performances by the main cast, especially Jerome Jharell and Denzel Washington's daughter. The humor in itself was unique in its own way and was not too overbearing. My only gripe is that there were a lot of things left unanswered and the finale was a little anticlimactic. Besides that, I recommend watching this while on shrooms or any psychedelic. "
"Is an anti-American propaganda series following a slow, uncultivated individual, named Cootie that's trying to find his place in the world after being sheltered most of his life and stumbling on some notoriety for his gigantic size when he secretly ventured off from the barricade his parents confined him to. While Cootie is trying to navigate and assimilate with his community he gets mixed up with a group of fear-mongering activists like instigators trying to end what they perceive as unfair treatment towards their community in this rich-against-poor mentality. Through lackluster comical relief and dumb-down repetitive talking points you commonly hear when discussing these issues in today's political atmosphere. A warped view of capitalism and justification for committing crimes to justify what those on the bottom must do to survive. I'm a Virgo is a coming-of-age type of show in the way that Cootie starts as a clueless idiot desperately craving a dang burger that leads him to sneak out and try to get glimpses of the world his parents warned him about, to him being able to experience things his parents shielded him from. Then, him deciding on his own to take on this role that lands him on the villain list in The Hero's (crime-fighter hero character) mind.
Pros: The actors/actresses do an excellent job of portraying these characters. You manage to dislike all of them because they seemed all flawed as individuals.
Trying to take a jab at heroes in general by making everyone do a horrible job at it or being severely flawed to be considered one in our society.
The special effects and takes are fairly nice.
Cons:
Too woke
Too political
Too dull
Poor dialogue
Poor transitions
Poor character development
The pacing is completely off
The characters are poorly written.
As well was dismissed/ killed off too quickly to impact any viewer watching.
Regurgitation of lines, meaningless messages, and no concrete plot that you begin to wonder if this show was created to in"
