"It’s not often that the main character, the voice of the story, is such a sociopath that watching her story is like witnessing a nonstop train wreck. How could one person wreak such havoc? I felt a bit slimy the whole time. Yet I couldn’t set it aside. This was Gregory’s debut novel and she’s much better known for her Tudor stories (e.g., The Other Boleyn Girl). This is well written, but don’t expect to like Beatrice and don’t read it if you like happy endings, or middles. #dark"
