"8/24-Pg 2 I am confused right now, all I know is that a plague has descended upon Thebes and the city is dying, and they are coming to Oedipus to see if he can fix their problem. <br/><br/>8/25-Pg5 the plague is because of the death of King Laius, so now Oedipus and Creon are going to look for the man who killed him<br/><br/>8/25-Pg5 The chorus is so confusing, I know they are like the connection to the audience, but the vocabulary is insane and confusing, give me a little time I’ll get use to it.<br/><br/>8/25-Pg8 I think Oedipus is going to put a curse on King Laius’s murderers<br/><br/>8/25-Pg8 I wonder why Tiresias is so anxious<br/><br/>8/25-Pg9 Oedipus is getting pretty angry, it makes me suspicious…<br/><br/>8/25-Pg9 I agree with Tiresias, if you don’t utter a word you are saving yourself and your city from harm, then again Oedipus is making sense too, if you don’t talk or “tell the truth” you are hurting the ones around you, the ones you love<br/><br/>8/25-Pg10 I can’t believe Oedipus is making a fool of himself, he is making fun of a prophet, he is filled with hubris, he is so self centered, just because he is king he thinks he can tell ANYONE what to do, he is arrogant, I hope he relinquishes his hubris in a foolish way<br/><br/> 8/25-Pg10 Oedipus thinks he is all high and mighty just because he solved the riddle of the sphinx<br/><br/>8/25-Pg16 “To throw away a friend is, in effect, to throw away your own life”<br/><br/>The theme in this epic poem is revenge, same as in Hamlet<br/><br/>It is annoying because to cut down the pages, the dialog is next to each other, it is known as double dialog<br/><br/>I wanted to bring up, even though this “poem” does not have any rhyming, the chorus of Elders speaks in riddles<br/><br/>There are accents over words like wingéd and belovéd <br/><br/>I can’t believe Oedipus killed King Laius!!! He is such a hypocrite<br/><br/>Exuent=Exit<br/><br/>Oedipus’s father is dead; the man he feared all his life because of the threat of Oedipus’s death is dead of natural causes.<br/><br/>The rhyme scheme for chorus-ABAB, AABB<br/><br/>This is like a soap opera, Oedipus was King Laius’s son and was given away to King Polybus to prevent the prophecy that King Laius was going to be killed by his own son, so there was another prophecy that if he were to return to Corinth, he would be cursed to marry his mother, Queen Meropé. So he leaves Corinth, fulfills the prophecy of Killing King Laius(his biological father). Then he goes to Thebes and marries Jocasta and has children with her, which is too creepy, to make love to your own mother. I guess his curse to marry his mother was meant towards his biological mother!<br/><br/>The ending was sad, Oedipus cut out his eyes because he believed he did not deserve to live out his life seeing when he saw his mother/wife (CREEPY) kill herself. When he spoke to his daughters it was very sad and emotional, also it was wrong that he said no man would ever marry them because of his reputation of “The Accurséd one” the whole thing was emotional. <br/><br/>This story was really good, I thought it was difficult but I understood it, it had that soap opera-y vibe, I give it 5 stars<br/>"
