"I was frustrated through 90% of this novel as it devolved quickly and thoroughly into excessive filler - and not even witty excessive filler, just annoying, empty prattle. The first two books at least managed to work the commentary and diatribes into the plot!

However, the actual plot and content, particularly at the end - they are the underpinnings of a great little book! Finally, some satisfaction! And now I HAVE to read the final installment and hope it doesn't make me regret the decision!

In all seriousness, this novel seemed significantly more juvenile than its predecessors while also managing to be significantly less amusing. The book is worth 2 stars, but the saving of the book - and possibly the series - is worth 3. We shall see!

Family Friendly rated G: References to a character being beaten."
"I love these books. Sure they're meant for middle graders, but they have so much character and charm and most importantly, sarcasm that I can't get enough. Maybe I just have the humour of a 12 year old but I don't mind. Every chapter makes me laugh and I only wish I could come up with some of the great quotes and comebacks that Alcatraz manages.

This book was quite the adventure, I think it might be my favourite thus far. The story felt more intense and bigger (in the sense of what was happening in the grand scheme of things) but at the same time held all the same characteristics I've loved from the other books.

I have to say my favourite parts are the beginnings of the chapters where Alcatraz as the author tells us something. Random as they often are, I find myself intrigued and as if I'm seeing into the mind that is Brandon Sanderson (but I really mean Alcatraz).

Easy reads but filled with fun and adventure. Can't wait to see what has been prophesied from book one come to be in the last book."
