Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

The essays collected here derive in part from a series of lectures, "International Perspectives on Shakespeare", delivered at the University of Delaware during the academic year 1992-93 and partially supported by the Delaware Humanities Forum. By coincidence, three of the six scholars chose one of Shakespeare's most enduring and beloved tragedies, Romeo and Juliet, for their subject, but each approached the play from different points of view. All the essays are published here for the first time in English. They offer new perspectives on Romeo and Juliet that all students of the play will find both illuminating and useful.
