"Okay my history with this book goes back far. When I was in third grade I picked up this book for independent reading just for whatever. Since then I’ve reread it a couple times, despite the fact that I’m well beyond that reading level, and I cry every single time. Also would just like to note, it’s not like it’s a very low reading level, it’s just not as descriptive as maybe a book I’d read now, but I still LOVE this book. I HIGHLY recommend, especially for those around the third grade but I don’t know how many third graders use this app 😭"

"I first read this book maybe...10-12 years ago? It was during either 7th or 8th grade, and I had thought the cover was interesting as I looked at the books my science teacher had on his shelf. Asked to borrow it, and never gave it back until the end of the school year.<br/>The story's been playing in my head since that day, even when I forgot the title. I knew the story.<br/>After all those years I finally asked for a copy of it for my birthday, because I just...needed to have it again. To hold it, like it held that part of my mind.<br/>And tonight I happened to want to read it out loud, to my followers on stream. And over the 4-4.5hr it took me to read it out loud, I almost convinced myself that it wouldn't hurt as much now as it did when I was younger. I was wrong. I think it hurt more this time around because I understood it more. My voice kept cracking as I tried to not sob over my mic.<br/>But I still love it. It means so much to me, then and now. So do I recommend giving it a read? Yes. I also recommend being in the right headspace for it though. Just a warning. It is beautiful sadness. And I wouldn't change a thing about it."
