The book followed Gem Golding and her attacker through two alternate timelines; one where she surrendered to her attacker and one where she fought back. It was good for the most part, some of the lines were a bit corny in ways that you never actually hear people speaking. The premise of the story was kept me reading, but I will say it was very hard to follow. Every other chapter is the same timeline (1,3,5 etc are fight 2,4,6 etc are surrender if that makes sense) therefore there were a lot of points in the book that i kept getting lost on what was actually happening. It was difficult to keep the timelines separate when reading them in chronological order and it got pretty confusing due to that. My personal rating would be 3.4/5 ⭐️ Overall interesting story with gripping details that make you want to keep turning the pages but confusing to the point the story was difficult to follow at times. Would I recommend? If you enjoy crime stories where you can see the POV of the suspect in a case, absolutely. It was very interesting to see the criminal’s side.
