Alice Oseman
From the critically acclaimed creator of the Heartstopper series comes a vivid, clever, and heartfelt portrayal of what it's like to be a teenager today. Alice Oseman’s stunning debut novel Solitaire—which the Times (London) called "The Catcher in the Rye for the digital age"—is perfect for fans of Melina Marchetta, Stephen Chbosky, and Rainbow Rowell. My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep and I like to blog. Last year—before all that stuff with Charlie and before I had to face the harsh realities of exams and university applications and the fact that one day I really will have to start talking to people—I had friends. Things were very different, I guess, but that's all over now.Now there's Solitaire. And Michael Holden. I don't know what Solitaire is trying to do, and I don't care about Michael Holden. I really don't.

"Love the representation in this book. Mental health can look different for everyone, and it was so interesting to get a look into Tori’s mindset. Pessimistic and self-loathing, Tori is a truly interesting case. Sometimes, depression can be hard to recognize, and this book shows that. Not everything can be explained through words. Sometimes we just feel things. I love Tori’s growth and development within the story and how she learned to overcome herself. Inspiring, witty, and comedic. I loved this"
"Tori is such an interesting character but sometimes her self sabotage got to be a little too much for me. I understand that she doesn't like herself very much but there are all sorts of people reaching out to her proving that they like her. Maybe this is just me projecting though because I low key feel like I do the same thing sometimes."
"This book was such a good read in my opinion. It’s focused on the sister of the main character of heartstopper, Charlie Spring. I thought it was so nice to see the POV of another character other than Nick and Charlie. It was also so relatable and shows how it can be like to have severe depression. "
"I read heart stopper first, so shortly after I heard of this because it’s by Alice Oseman so I decided to give it a try. It is not like any book I have ever read, but it is truly amazing. I loved the fact that it’s not just your typical story about some teenager who wants a partner, and instead is a story about what people go through and shows that people aren’t always what they seem. 5/5 in my opinion."
"DNF’d about a third or halfway through, I don’t remember. I didn’t want to do it because I consider myself a fan of Heartstopper, but I couldn’t really get into the story with how uncaring and dull Tori’s POV voice is. This might mean missing out on some context or details in the HS universe, but at this rate I don’t really care."
