"There were things I didn’t like about this book, BUT it was an okay read, not what I expected."

"Personally I had a hard time with this book. "

"Ropa is a strong and feisty individual. A little weird and quite strange being that she can communicate with ghost and travel to the everyThere.
It was a little slow at times but otherwise good.
She talks to ghosts and send messages back to their loved ones. I like the idea of a ghost talker though. It’s different. But she needs money so she is hesitant to help anyone without payment. But then kids went missing and then coming back different.
I wanted to find the kids. "
"The first 150 pages were pretty dang slow. But the book really some intensity in the second half! Ropa is definitely a strong character for the mere age of what barely 14 years old?!"

"While the narration was a bit stilted, the overall story telling was pretty fun and kept a solid pace. I love this main character, Ropa and look forward to seeing more of her. She's quick witted, responsible and at the same time faces some seriously tough challenges for a kid her age. Great median and loved the blend of magic and ghosts. Also loved the landscape of this out of time era in Edinburgh. I'm unclear when this is supposed to have happened but it feels post-apocolyptic or at least after our current times going toward a dystopian future."
"Ropa doesn't do things for free. Nothing. She speaks to the dead and carries their messages, but only if they can pay. Why? She's trying to support her grandma and her little sister in a world gone dark. Only there's a ghost with a compelling argument for a pro-bono case, but there's no such thing as a free lunch."
