On the worst birthday of my life, I come home to find my boyfriend in bed with another woman. Within hours, I'm drunk, homeless, and pledging to stay single forever. And that is when the dangerously sexy Seelie King rolls through town, looking for fae like me.Every generation, the king holds a competition for Seelie queen. But for reasons he won't explain, Torin is looking for a charade, not a real marriage. So when I drunkenly sling insults his way, I have his attention. When Torin offers me fifty million to participate, I think, "What have I got to lose?" The answer turns out to be "my life," because my competition will literally kill for the crown. And the more time I spend with the seductive king, the harder it becomes to remember it's all supposed to be fake. Now, my life-and my heart-are on the line.

"If you liked a touch of darkness, this book is for you!! It didn’t appeal to me as much as I thought it would, unfortunately. The side characters were well developed and the dialogue gave me some hilarious reactions. The writing style of this book, wasn’t for me. I wish we could’ve explored some more of the beautiful world. Hopefully in the second one!! For the right audience this book is a great read✨"
"I liked this, which was not what I was expecting when I started it.

The beginning in the human realm was super weird, and the human-Fae integration really threw me off. Once Ava entered Faerie I started getting on board.

I liked the FMC and found her to be a good balance between hard and soft. She takes no **** but is emotional and a romantic underneath her sassy exterior.

In the beginning, I was comparing this to ‘Trials of the Sun Queen’, and that was a mistake, because, although they both involve bachelor-like competitions, this one had more of an arranged agreement to it with Torin and Eva agreeing to a false marriage and committed to not having a romantic relationship. It resulted in more focus on the development of their feelings, the skirting around these feelings, and the navigating Torins curse.

the reveal of Ava being Unseelie was pretty expected, so that wasnt much of a surprise, but I just hope Torin doesnt hold what she is against her, especially since she didnt grow up with the Unseelie and didnt even know of her heritage."
