Choose a tribe. Watch your back. And don’t stop running.Filled with thrilling adventure and romance, The Forsaken is praised by EntertainmentWeekly.com as “a fast-paced novel [that] you’ll get sucked into. You just can’t seem to put [it] down.” As an obedient orphan of the U.N.A. (the super-country that was once Mexico, the US, and Canada), Alenna learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet—having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. But Alenna can’t help standing out when she fails a test that all sixteen-year-olds have to take: The test says she has a high capacity for brutal violence, and so she is sent to the wheel, an island where all would-be criminals end up. The life expectancy of prisoners on the wheel is just two years, but with dirty, violent, and chaotic conditions, the time seems a lot longer as Alenna is forced to deal with civil wars for land ownership and machines that snatch kids out of their makeshift homes. Desperate, she and a charismatic warrior named Liam concoct a potentially fatal plan to flee the island. Survival may seem impossible, but Alenna is determined to achieve it anyway.

"Overall, I enjoyed this book. Though I think the set-up for the story was a bit too fast paced; it didn't allow me time to connect with the characters and get to really invest in them. Things fly by, and it was a bit hard for me to care; there should have been more development in the beginning of the book before Alenna sees Liam and gets tossed on the Island.

I also see a lot of similarities between this book and other YA dystopian novels - serums similar to Divergent, the wheel itself being similar to Hunger Games, teens being treated similarly to Unwind etc.

I am hoping with the following books I can sink my teeth more into this world."
"Great Book, no steamy scenes, a few kisses but that is it. Great book for ages 12 to 15 in my opinion. Defineitely recommend this book trilogy!!"
