It took a little adjusting but I got used to it. The story was great, I've felt bad, one the verge of tears, with just the way he talks about everything especially his feelings for his mom. Great story, perfect ending."

cinymin_x shared a tip "Must read!! The fact that this is written from the kid's point of view is what makes this such an amazing book. Do yourself a favor and NEVER watch the movie. It just isn't the same story when it isn't told from the kid's point of view"

Years since reading it, I've never entered a strange 12x12 room that I didn't stop and take in the walls and wonder if I could be the one that lived inside without a connection to the outside world too. What would I have done, or done differently? It's engraved in my mind that that very scenario could happen to any one of us at any time. Are you ready to live in a small room for years, alone, with no contact??"

megan_mistywebs shared a tip "Not a light read. The story is written from the perspective of the child so I found myself sometimes having to reread parts to understand the child language and wording. However, this very much adds to the experience of the story in a way the film missed sort of. I flew through it though, had to know what happens to them. Well described and paced throughout, as far as I can remember."
