"Phew. That was a lot. Tons of trigger warnings to give here and all to do with childhood abuse. Also, there is no happy ending and it continues in a second book. I always feel that's very impt to know ahead of time.
All that said, it is a pretty beautiful example of friends to lovers. And, the fact hat she is mute allows them to have a deep understanding of each other that is touching. Now to start the second book..."
"Eleven years Oakley has been silent, hiding a truth that would rip her world apart.
Refusing to communicate beyond a few physical actions, Oakley remains in her own world. Cole is her only friend, he fights for her, protects her, but as they grow closer together, their relationship gets put to the test.
When Oakley is forced to face someone from her past, can she hold her secret in any longer?"
"I have read this book so many times and I still fall in love with there love story over and over again, I love Oakley and Cole's friendship that ends up turning into a epic love story. I love how protective Cole is over Oakley and that even thought he is frustrated that Oakley won't tell her why she no longer talks and how much he wants to know the reason behind it he still loves her the same way and never looks at her differently and is still her best friend. The ending is intense, when she called Cole and tells him she needs help and speaks for the first time in 11 years. I love this book and mostly likely will read again."
