Deep in the forest is a place where woodland creatures live together in harmony. Moose and mice, owls and bears, and many more call the charming village of Shady Hollow home. All is well, until a toad is found floating facedown in the millpond. It's something these folks haven't seen before: a murder. Foxy reporter Vera Vixen is new in town. She has a nose for news and catches the scent of a story, one that leads her to dark places. As she stirs up the still waters, the fox exposes more than one mystery, and the folks in Shady Hollow learn that some of their neighbors are shifty, while others are downright dangerous. Vera finds more to this shady town than she ever suspected. Someone in the Hollow will do anything to keep her from solving the murder. It will take all of Vera's cunning and quickness to come out alive.

"Shady Hollow by Juneau Black
5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had a lot of fun with this! It was a very fast read and the characters were fun! I imagined Zootopia meets Animal Crossing meets Red Wall and I really enjoyed the whole thing. The mystery and the details of the animals busy days in coffee shops and book stores. This was great!"
"Oh how I love this book so much! If you could combine Gilmore Girls (small town), Animal Crossing (talking animals) and the queen Agatha Christie all in one then you have Shady Hollow. I will be reading the entire series!"

"I'm sitting here grinning like an idiot. I haven't enjoyed a cozy mystery this much ever since I finished Goldie's adventures a few years ago.
What a charming story, so vivid and colourful despite its grim tone. One would be foolish to think the forest critters and woodland setting would diminish the quality of the mystery part, because this is nothing if both equally cozy and mysterious.
I'm over the moon with Vera and her adventures, I'll be reading the second book soon enough"
"A wonderful book that combines two of my favorite genres, woodland creatures and murder mystery! Easy cozy read perfect to knock out in a weekend! Loved it!"

"I usually like to read only a few chapters in one sitting of a mystery novel. That didn't work for this book. I got so involved and grabbed by the story I read the entire book in one night. I haven't read like that since I was a kid! The characters were loveable and realistic. The mystery itself kept you guessing and gave you so many clues to help you figure it out on your own. This book had no romance (till the end), just a fully packed rich story. If you read one mystery make it this one. "
