"Everyone thought that after King Fallow died, his daughter Esther would inherit the throne and his magic. Even if it wasn’t Esther it should’ve been another Royal or even a Legal… no one thought it could even possibly be a Nameless. It shouldn’t have been possible, a Nameless becoming queen, a level in the class system so low that they don’t have rights or even names. Dozens of the Nameless have been going missing for months and because they are just unimportant people off the street, no one seems to even notice or care.
But when a crown appears on the arm of a Nameless thief out of nowhere there is no denying that they are to be the queen.
Who ever knew that the palace could be more dangerous than the streets? How could a Nameless street rat possibly rules?
This book was really cute! It’s a coming of age story. I think the storyline is pretty good. It built the characters well, gave them personalities and their own pasts. Not much world building but the quips and the pace of the book kept me interested. I found myself wanting to continue from chapter to chapter because with each new scene the main character found out something new about herself, about her abilities, about her past, present, and future. It has magic, fighting, and a class system in it. I enjoyed how even though there was a tier system it still gave power to those who seemed or “should be” powerless. It did have some unpredictable moments and there weren’t any moments where I was like “that makes no sense”. It also makes you acknowledge that we truly never understand how important a name is.
If you want a simple story about a girl learning about herself, the people around her, and growing into who she is supposed to be, this book is great for you. "
