"The book is SO much better than the movie with Jonny Depp in it. Just read the book. :) Dahl is always a bit eccentric, but there are usually good takeaways and this book is no exception. It's fun and imaginative as well, which kids need more of these days."

"British Roald Dahl tends to stick to his English roots when writing his stories. His creative and imaginative use of nonsense words and inventive adventures, keep children coming back for more generation after generation. In one of Dahl’s more famous stories, poor Charlie finally gets the chance to live a life more than just his run-down shack and cold cabbage soup for dinner. Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory has been nothing but a mystery since it was shut down. No one ever goes in, no one ever comes out except for the candy. Then one day Wonka decides to release five golden tickets to the public but hide them in his chocolate bars all over the world. The search is over and at last the five tickets have been found. Five colorful children and one of their relatives take the brave adventure into the factory on tour with Mr. Wonka, however as the tour deepens itself, one by one the children are succumbed to the temptation of the candy and are forced to leave leaving Charlie the soul remainder. This is a twisty turny book, that will keep you and the kids sucked in until the last page. <br/> <br/> Students will love getting to see this book. I think this would make for a great example nonsense words in a literacy unit, or as a great read aloud book for older elementary grades. I would love to have this book, and the rest of the Dahl collection in my classroom library, as an option for read aloud, but also for students to have reading options. I feel that students will love the whimsy and will gravitate towards this book on a shelf. I think most children will love the sight of the words chocolate factory in a title. <br/>"
