After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson is finding seventh grade unnervingly quiet. His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson, a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere. But things don't stay quiet for long. Percy soon discovers that there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: the magical borders that protect Half-Blood Hill have been poisoned, and the only safe haven for the demigods is on the verge of being overrun by monsters.

"4/5. This is honestly my least favorite book in the series. I think if they’d left the last 2 or 3 chapters out, I would have survived. The second book is a major set up for the rest of the series. Good notes: I love Tyson. He is precious, and the development Riordan did on Annabeth and Percy’s friendship was spectacular. The sirens had to be my favorite scene in the book, and I enjoyed diving more into Ares and Hermès parenting. "
