"This book has been on my TBR for so long I am glad to finally have been able to check it off my list. This book had so many twists and turns I wish I hadn’t seen the show first because I would have loved it that much more. I feel like the show got more into the other side characters and not just the three main ones but I was glad to be able to know what the three main ladies were thinking. "
"I really wish we could rate 1-10.
I am thinking a 3.5 but leaning higher.
The book started for me with surface characters and subjects (helicopter parenting/gossiping) that do not interest me BUT then....the author digs a bit deeper into a couple of characters as the book progresses and then touches upon a deeper subject

worth reading."

"[Warning: some spoilers ahead – I tried my best to be as brief as possible].

“Detective-Sergeant Adrian Quinlan: Let me be clear: This is not a circus. This is a murder investigation.”

Wow. This book was FANTASTIC. I don’t know where to start. One of the best books I’ve read all summer so far. I read this book in hopes of watching the show, but I wanted to read the book first. Now, I don’t know if I want to watch the show because the book was so damn good.

[b:Big Little Lies|19486412|Big Little Lies|Liane Moriarty|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1492239430s/19486412.jpg|27570886]is a hilarious story of three women, who’s children are all in the same kindergarten class and end up close friends. Each woman has their own personal life struggle, but they all seem to accept each other for the person they are. While living in a world of catty kindergarten mothers and endless he said vs. she said problems, these three women tend to stick together.

Madeline – literally my spirit animal – is hilarious. Her inability to use a verbal filter is the best thing I’ve read in a long time. Remarried and living with her two children and her current husband Ed, along with her 14-year old daughter from her previous husband Nathan. Who, not to mention, is remarried and has a daughter who is in THE SAME KINDERGARTEN CLASS as Madeline and Ed’s daughter, Chloe.

Celeste – a timid, quiet, absolutely beautiful woman inside and out. We quickly learn that you can’t judge a book by its cover, as Celeste’s “perfect marriage” isn’t as perfect as it appears. We quickly learn that Perry, her husband, is a complete millionaire, loving father and undercover domestic abuser. While reading Celeste’s story, you almost feel a sense of reading it in secret. Everything in Celeste’s world is perfect on the outside, but as a reader, I found myself gasping as Perry’s actions towards Celeste and as they continued, I wanted to punch Perry in the face, myself.

Jane – the youngest and newest to town of the three who desperately wants the best life for her son, Ziggy, can’t seem to escape being the centre of the drama as the newly named “class bully”. Jane has her own story for moving to the Pirriwee Public School, which we learn is a sad past to Ziggy’s beginning.

Might I add that this book is about a murder! Moriarty kept that swept under the rug for the entire book and it kept me guessing the whole time! I literally kept thing “Okay, maybe this is the victim???”. PS that’s not a spoiler because that quote at the top is literally in the first chapter ^^^^^.
I can’t believe it took me so long to finish this book, but I was super busy. HOWEVER, it doesn’t take away for how amazing it was. It was completely and without a doubt wonderfully written. I’m a huge fan of the dual-narrative in stories and even though this didn’t “technically” do this, I thought Moriarty did a great job of changing her 3rd person narrative tone to suit each character’s way of speaking. I was able to visualize Madeline’s snarky tone, Celeste’s anger towards her husband, and Jane’s helpless feelings towards defending her son. Bravo.

Another reason why I loved this book is because I literally felt like I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when Moriarty would drop a bomb in the story. I don’t want to give any specific spoilers, but I will say this:

You
Won’t
Be
Disappointed

5/5 stars. All. The. Way."
"Great story with a powerful message! Once I got into the story I was completely absorbed and couldn't put it down. It offers mystery and intrigue with twists along the way to keep you guessing at what happened."
