" I watched the movie YEARS ago long enough that the only thing I remember about it is the ending. But it stuck with me all of these years. At some point, I put the novel on my TBR and recently decided it was the perfect time to read it. It was cliche and Landon is intolerable for the first 70 pages, but it is a truly emotional novel, and the ending got me. Usually, a heavy use of religion doesn't do it for me, seeing as I'm an atheist. This book can get away with it though, I never felt annoyed about it. The last 30 pages of this novel are rough, it has a "happy" ending but it's still a devastating book at heart.
Not my normal type of tea, but it did what it was supposed to do. I think this is one of the books that bridges people who don't read the genre to avid tragedy lovers. That's a beautiful thing when it comes to any novel. I highly recommend the movie and the book."
