Sadly, none of the fools from her London season qualify. While visiting a friend on the Dorset coast, Poppy is pleasantly surprised to discover a smugglers’ hideaway tucked inside a cave. But her delight turns to dismay when two pirates kidnap her and take her aboard a ship, leaving her bound and gagged on the captain’s bed…He found her at the wrong time...Known to society as a rascal and reckless privateer, Captain Andrew James Rokesby actually transports essential goods and documents for the British government. Setting sail on a time-sensitive voyage to Portugal, he’s stunned to find a woman waiting for him in his cabin. Surely, his imagination is getting the better of him. But no, she is very real—and his duty to the Crown means he's stuck with her. Can two wrongs make the most perfect right? When Andrew learns that she is a Bridgerton, he knows he will likely have to wed her to avert a scandal—though Poppy has no idea that he is the son of an earl and neighbor to her aristocratic cousins in Kent. "Poppy Bridgeton, the niece of the family, was exploring caves, wrong place, wrong time, when she found a cave that held goods. She was then found by two pirates who kidnapped her and took her back on the boat. The boat was not pirates, but delivered messages and packages for The Crown and was captained by Andrew Rokesby. Since important papers were waiting to be picked up in the cave, Poppy had to be arrested and was confined to Andrew’s room as the ship had to set sail to deliver more papers for The Crown. Initially, they hated each other, but as they spent more time together, they saw how much they had in common. When Andrew’s ship reaches Portugal, it’s destination, he takes Poppy out to see the city when they are attacked and taken hostage by bandits who want money. Andrew negotiates for Poppy’s release and gives her a message to take to his English correspondent in Portugal. Poppy does as she is told, but must mention none of this and is sent on the next ship home to London. Poppy’s ship landed near the home of her cousins, so she is staying with them for some time. She knows nothing of who Andrew really is, the son of an earl, or his fate. Andrew was able to be released, but it took him a month before he was able to return home out of safety. His first night home, the Bridgertons are invited over for dinner and Andrew sees Poppy. He was planning to look for her the next day. When the families realize that Andrew and Poppy know each other, they have a lot of questions, and the truth is told. Andrew fell in love with Poppy during her confinement to his room and he asks her to be his wife. "
