explodingtardis10 shared a tip "Most retellings of Alice in Wonderland I've found still try to spin it as being mostly cheerful when the themes are in fact dark. I loved this because it didn't even pretend it was Disney animated subject material! It was pleasantly dark and fantastical in its darkness. Very beautiful in the world it creates with the author's descriptions. Not all is hopeless but nothing is Technicolor either which is refreshing. Definitely recommend."
