"This is my first encounter of the highly acclaimed Murakami's fiction writing. I didnt find it awesome or exiquiste. Parts of the novel worked really good for me (especially Haida's story and his father's, Tsukuru's meditation about death and how he overcomes that) and somethings didnt click at all (Shiro's story, novel's ending). May be I should give other acclaimed works of Murakami a try before giving it up."
"Learned about this author through a YouTuber (Sorekara Melancholy) who does silent vlogs and is a big reader himself. I have read translated foreign works and some works in Spanish for classes, and I've been a long time watcher of anime, Korean dramas, and foreign films/shows. Yet, starting with this novel from Murakami (no particular reason on why this one to start with; it was one of the few Murakami books at my public library) opened my eyes to the fact that I enjoy foreign works! "It is! I also recently read the rat trilogy and while the first two books weren't my favorite, I loved wild sheep chase and dance dance dance. Now reading Kazuo Ishiguro's An artist of the floating world, I can recommend it if you like listening to characters have conversations about the past and about familial matters. Idk how I feel about it yet."
