"I was a little bit nervous when I started reading this that I wouldn’t be able to see it through since I typically prefer fiction, but I am very happy to say that I was dead wrong. Beverly Daniel Tatum discusses racial issues in such an eloquent way (while also using “layman’s terms”) that I was hooked after just the prologue!<br/><br/>I had owned this book for about a year before finally reading it and my only regret is that I didn’t read it sooner. It illuminated so many things that I, as a white woman, have had the privilege of never experiencing or even noticing before.<br/><br/>I’ve recommended this book to every single person who’s asked about it, and even most of those who haven’t. I cannot wait to read it again (but with a highlighter and notepad handy).<br/><br/>If you consider yourself to be an ally, or even if you just want to learn more about the racism and discrimination that continues to plague the US, then this is a fantastic and invaluable resource and you should absolutely give it a chance."
