"I would've finished this in one night if I hadn't been working on only a few hours sleep driving out of state the night before....<br/><br/>So many revelations of the things little Colton did and saw while in heaven were a mix of confirmation/mystery explained/standing-hair-on-the-back-of-the-neck moments, that I couldn't put this book down today until I had finished it. <br/><br/>The biggest thing I got out of it was due to what I'm experiencing right now in my own life - the whole 'being angry at God' scenario because of the current trials my husband and I are facing. In recounting the agony that Colton's father felt as he prayed for his son's life in that little room at the hospital....Todd Burpo makes a point of stressing God's love and answer to our heartfelt prayers even when we are angry with him, even as we are questioning God's faithfulness and love and purposefulness towards us, His children. How undeserving of his Mercy and Grace we truly are, yet he gives it freely to us anyway, without reservation. And how humbling that is to those of us that are feeling out of sorts with our God. <br/><br/>The painting of Jesus that Colton responded to also intrigued me - a print of which is included in the book. And that His eyes were the most amazing feature to Colton - which, now that I think about it, probably shouldn't be too surprising since it is said that the eyes are the window to our souls.....Jesus's eyes OUGHT to reflect the beauty of His nature and love for us, and His holiness and righteousness. Those would not be a "normal" pair of eyes, indeed!!<br/><br/>I could go on and on about this book, but will leave the longer treatises to others. I spoke to those things that touched me personally. I'm sure others will be attracted to various other parts of this book - but make no mistake, ALL of it is worth reading - even if you don't believe in God, this book will touch you somehow, some way. Maybe not immediately as you read it, or even weeks later....but eventually, this book and its story will be brought to your mind again, and it won't be a mistake or a fluke that it happened. <br/><br/>Read it and enjoy."

"I thought this would be a unique recount of a child’s experience - and it was until I found out the child’s father was a priest or something so obviously the child has been taught to believe in heaven and in God which made the book just come off as preachy and more like Christian recruiting tactic."
