"crazy that I remembered only the jokes vividily from when I read this as a child. the premise of the book and like a lot of the new characters introduced in this book? utterly forgotten. but I remembered Bes and his speedo and Ra and his baby talk! crazy that's what my child mind latched onto lol"
"2/5. Likes: Some of the fight scenes and Bes. He is an amazing character that is perfectly fleshed out. Dislikes? Sadie. Most of my issues stem from Sadie and her age. I don’t agree that she should only be turning 13 in this story. Riordan had her face down her possessed grandparents, he had her in a love triangle between two boys (one was 5000, and the other was 16), and he made her extremely annoying. She talked badly about everyone at some point, and he gave her terrible quips."
"I think I like the characters more as they have matured. The sister, the girl protagonist, has a much stronger voice in this book, and therefore character, than her brother. The pacing in the book was slightly inconsistent; sometimes a period of minutes l would last pages and pages and at other times a period of hours would go by in a sentence. Timing in important in all Riordan's books though as there is always a deadline, so I am sure he has to outline his events really specifically and can't write too much about each and every hour or else the books would be too long."
