"This was a book club read and the concept of it being like the grinch was cute, and I can understand a slow burn, but almost 500 pages is honestly insane and unnecessary for what this book was. The dialog between characters was cringey and not for me 🤷🏻♀️ however if you love it, good for you!"
"This book was such a guilty pleasure for me. It was like a super spicy, small town Hallmark movie meets The Grinch. Complete with silly rhyming prose at the beginning of each chapter. The contest part was just fun, the banter made me laugh out loud, and the brotherly friendship between Cole and Max hit me in the feels. The spice kicks in just about half way through and kinda takes over until the end. Some of the spice gave me a little bit of the ick but overall it was a fun read. "
"Man, this book almost fooled me with a funny first line. There were some silly moments I smiled, but ultimately DNF’d after 70 pages and skimmed through to the ending. I’ve never read any books by this author, but wow was this corny. I’m all for a Hallmark kind of corny Christmas book, but the writing in this with the dialogue was just cringe. And why did this need to be almost 500 pages?! I also didn’t think his hatred for Storee (even her name is cringe) was necessary. Lots of repetition with words and phrases too. Just no."
"I’m on the edge between 2 and a 3 star rating. This was a book for my book club, and I think the first part of the book was enjoyable. It was funny and cute but definitely not something I normally read. There were a lot of funny parts and I liked the MMC.
Here’s the problem. The FMC character made no sense, if she’s a workaholic and never goes out, she wouldn’t be this out going. She should have been more introverted for the story to make any sense. And after you FINALLY got to spice, it was lacking and just not enjoyable to read. While it could be called tension through the first part of the book, it wasn’t so it didn’t feel like build up. However me and my book club made lots of candy cane jokes.
I think this is an OKAY read, I did enjoy parts but others I definitely didn’t. If you’re into hallmark movies this might be perfect for you."
"Cute romance. Spicy scenes. Happy ending. Could do without the poems and the narrator parts. Would like to see what happens to max!"
