"I LOVE this series.

I honestly don’t know how the authors do it. I couldn’t put this book down. I personally didn’t like it as much as some of the others but it was still a fantastic book. The love between Kate and Curran was still adorable and sizzling. There was plenty of fighting and a good mystery to solve. The only regret I have is not reading this book sooner. There was some frustration with some of the characters but it all worked out in the end."

"i guess it’s not terrible but def the worst book in the series so far. i’m still not sure why curran thought kate, essentially a demigod, could be killed by a high schooler who just left the house for the first time. at the very least kate shouldn’t have forgiven him their relationship getting more and more toxic each book. personally i think hugh made a lot of good points about kate and her relationships and i kinda ship them ngl. very mad aunt b is dead kinda loved her i thought eduardo was the only who was gonna die."
"I admit, I hesitated to start this. This is one of those series that I reread often. I can only read this for the first time once, so I had to make sure to savor it. Which was hard. What I love about Ilona and Gordon Andrews is that they don't pull any punches. They also, more importantly, don't write books with filler. Each book in this series is just as great as the previous only because they keep the story fresh and they also have detailed plot lines for each book. Magic Rises was no exception. I was on the edge of my seat, barely managing not to skip forward to make sure everthing would turn out alright, the entire read. I even had to stop myself at 3 am to go to bed.

Roland. Andrews is slowly dragging this out. With each book, we get a glimpse at what it might be like for her to go up against her father. What I like about this, Andrews manages to build up the story with each book. At times I'm ready for the big show down with Roland. Other times, I'm glad it hasn't happened yet. Kate never stops fighting or learning. She acquires new abilities in each book. May it be power words or strange abilities that resemble those that her father has. She is an ass kicker, but she isn't invincible. She's still struggling and as many times as it was pointed out in this book, it could use repeating again, she's human. Human in every sense of the word. She's not her aunt, she's not that closed down emotionally, she's full of life, she has dreams, goals and she's fiercely loyal to those who have earned it. She's also affected by things such as envy and jealousy. With each new book, I'm glad to see that no matter what, some things won't change. Kate will always be human and have human emotions.

There are few book guys that I continue to love long after putting a book down. Curran is the number one guy on my list. There is just something about him. He's willingness to protect, his smart assery, cocky and incredibly sexy. He's a tough character. He is another of Andrews characters that has some amazing character development. I love him for Kate. I think they do well together. That said, what you see in this series that you rarely see in any other, is that the story follows Kate. While Curran stars a leading role, the story goes on. It is not centered around him. Of course, there are times when Kate is obsessing about him and his actions, but she doesn't let it get in the way of a job. She has work to do and as much as it kills her, she puts thoughts of him on the back burner to finish her work or to stay alive. The romance of these two, which is hot, does not, in anyway, detract or over take the book. That right there, is how it is done. A nice side of sex, with a whole lot of great action, er... storyline. I live for the scenes with Kate and Curran, especially when they are in an arguement, but I'm thankful that it doesn't overwhelm the story as a whole.

Really, all I wanted to say was this book was just as great as I thought it would be. Kick-ass action, an "Oh, God what has Kate and Curran gotten themselves into", mysterious villians and new entlightenment on Kate's background. I'm still excited for this series."
