In the first of L. Frank Baum's time-honored Oz novels, country girl Dorothy Gale gets whisked away by a cyclone to the fantastical Land of Oz. Dropped into the midst of trouble when her farmhouse crushes a tyrannical sorceress, Dorothy incurs the wrath of the Wicked Witch of the West. Dorothy is desperate to return to her native Kansas, and, aided by the Good Witch of the North, she sets out for the Emerald City to get help from the legendary Wizard. On her way, she meets three unlikely allies who embody key human virtues—the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion.

"a. Since playing Dorothy in my second-grade play, I have felt a strange connection the world of Oz, and all of the characters within in. Dorothy has found herself in a strange new land when her house in Kansas has been swept by a twister. All she wants is a way to go home, but the answer is hiding in plain sight. She travels along the yellow brick road where she meets some unlikely friends that are looking for some missing items of well. Together, they must find Oz, and defeat the witch in order to make all of their dreams come true. This a wonderful classic, with some slight dark sides that has developed itself into an entire world beloved by all. While I would not use this book in the classroom, I may provide it as a library option, but I especially want this in my own library. I have a rendition of the book, but I would love to have the original story."
