"Review

Rating: 2.5 stars

You can also read on my blog. https://tanyasreading.wordpress.com/2018/12/31/wildcard-by-marie-lu/

This book started out being better than the first one but at the 70% mark,it ran out of gas quickly.

The major problems with this book.

Emika- Emi become stagnant to me. She still had some of the badass qualities but it felt like most of them went. She didn't really hack into anything like she did in the first one. She honestly become the middle person between Hideo and Zero.

Character development The only person in this book who really got character development is Zero. His back story was tragic as hell and I felt for him. But then Marie started playing "Oh he's not the villain but a tragic figure who been manipulated but wait he is the villain" game with him and I didn't like it. The Phoenix riders barely got **** but a couple of flashbacks that didn't happen until towards in the end..

Warcross getting sidelined At first I was like " Well the plot got bigger than the games so it make sense that it become sidelined" but as the 70% marked, I hated the fact it become the way and only come back into play to stop Zero once and for all.

Plot Twist-Lawd have mercy. I love plot twist like the next person but it comes a point that to many plot twist can ruin a book and this what happen to this book. Marie couldn't make up her mind who she wanted to be her main villain. At first it seem like it was going to be Zero but then she turned Zero into a tragic figure and Dr. Taylor was the main villain but then she killed Dr. Taylor and Zero was back the villain. It didn't make any sense for her to play hot photo like that because having Dr. Taylor as a villain was good. Her whole motivation for the Zero project and the things she was doing was straight up evil. Just her death was straight up anti-climactic.

The Ending-It was kind of confusing to me but I think I got it.

All and All It wasn't as good as Warcross even tho it started off very strong."
"I’m glad this was only a duology instead of being stretched to a trilogy, because the ending was well timed and unravelling the mystery kept me turning pages. While some of the twists were predictable, some very much weren’t. This is far from my usual fiction genre but I love Marie Lu and she didn’t disappoint."
