"Charles and Anna. They may not have been my favorite in the first book or two. They may not have interested me much and I almost gave up on the series. I would have given up way too soon. I admit that Fair Game blew me out of the water, it even became my favorite read in the whole Mercy Thompson World. While Dead Heat doesn't have the same intensity as the previous book, it was still a very enjoyable ride, one I'm glad I stuck with because Charles and Anna make one outstanding team.

This is what I was waiting for when the last Mercy book came out. Trouble with the fae. Maybe having to pick sides. Forcing a choice. While maybe that didn't happen here, we finally see where the fae are no longer playing nice. They have unleashed a few nasties and everyone is in for a surprise. I love Charles and Anna as a team. Because they both play to their strengths and at no time does Charles whine or cry because his mate and woman is doing just as much as he is. Instead, he's fiercely proud of his mate. He may still be protective, but he has never tried to keep her caged and on the sidelines. To me, Charles and Anna have a great balance in their relationship. Charles and Anna are beautiful together. There is nothing they can't do when they are with each other.

Don't you think it's beautiful how they balance each other? When Charles is gruff and doesn't want to deal with people and Anna steps in and takes over, smoothing ruffled feathers. Let's face it, sometimes Charles is a cranky old wolf, but we love him anyway. When Anna sends a considerate text to tell Charles not to worry but he comes running anyway. Oh, not because he thinks his mate is weak and foolish, but to be her back up. While Anna has flourished by his side, he makes this perfect example of how he will always be there, ready to fight by her side.

There is just something beautiful about this series. It did take me three books for me to find out that I loved this series, but there is no separating me from this series. I'm on for the long haul and I hope there are more to come. I love Charles and Anna. I love Bran. I love the Montana pack. What I'm trying to say is I love everything about this series."
"If you have read the others in the Mercy Thompson series by her then I would say so. If not, I'd say start with the Mercy Thompson books. Time line wise this series weaves in with that series. You can can them alone, but I'd say this series is secondary and you'll be missing out on a lot from the world she has created. "
"I love all of her books this entire series is amazing!"
