QUESTION: What does Capitalism mean and how does it impact your life? This was the first question posed in a 3 episode series on the NPR Throughline podcast that focuses on Capitalism. This question is from the June 23rd episode "Capitalism: What is it?" I really enjoyed this series and hope we can discuss it hear. I'd love to hear you answer to the first question. #capitalism

Payton G To me, Capitalism means the supremacy and conquest of money above the needs of humanity. Capitalism means the ability for modern robber-baron billionaires to wantonly plunder and exploit those who create their wealth for them with minimal resistance. Day-to-day, it means that I can't afford my health insurance and experience food insecurity...but I make too much money to receive government assistance due to living in an urban area. All in all, it's great! 👍

Chris Rufkahr (she/her) @payton_g_6653 I agree. I admit that the overall access to food, shelter, and healthcare of most Americans is well above that of citizens of the majority of other countries, but it is nowhere near the level of access in most European countries. Its not that Capitalism is the worst system in the world. It's that we can do SO MUCH BETTER and the fact that we don't even try is obscene.

Payton G Actually I'm not. Just checked it out though, anything affiliated with Democracy@Work is my jam and I'll definitely give it a listen.
