𝓢𝓪𝓲𝓽𝓸 𝓒𝓱𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓸𝓼 I was a little into true crime before, but it peaked my interest because of Bailey Sarian. She's a YouTuber who talks about true crime stories and does her makeup simultaneously. While she talks about the stories, she tells it in a way like you're talking to your friends about "the tea" and YOU KNOW how she feels about it. Plus, Her makeup comes out very pretty. HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out her videos. Since everybody was telling her to do a podcast, She actually recently released her own called Dark History. Her videos are about modern crimes but her podcast is focused about history. I also stumbled upon Kendall Rae. She has a whole variety than Bailey.

Tarah If you like the "talking to friends" vibe, you should check out "I Said God Damn!" and "Redhanded"

𝓢𝓪𝓲𝓽𝓸 𝓒𝓱𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓸𝓼 @tarah_9299 You can find it in Spotify. I keep forgetting the ACTUAL main thing that got me into crime stuff. I watched this documentary called "The Devil you know" it's on YouTube for free and on Hulu. It is pretty crazy. It was about a Satanist that killed I believe two guys in his home. And what's crazy its that u never know what is happening next door to you. Check it out, if you're interested tho.

Elise I like the suspense and intrigue. If the podcast is documentary style and done well there are also characters to encounter and novel settings to explore. There's also wondering at the extremes of behaviour and then depending on the podcast a big whodunit aspect. If the podcast is conversational, I'm looking for engagement with the subject and rapport between the hosts. Not into anything that is just someone reading from the Wikipedia page.

Senator Sipes For me it's because it's a puzzle, it makes me think outside of the box and it's a way for me to understand different places and how people cope.

Natasha Tennison I’ve always been into true crime and would watch Snapped, Forensic Files, anything ID Channel growing up so true crime podcasts were a natural progression for me. I prefer true crime podcasts now as there seems to be a freedom in that forum for the hosts to discuss the topic in what I see as a more enlightening way than the shows from ID Channel, I feel like the humanity of the victim (and sometimes uncomfortably, the perpetrator) is brought more in podcasts which adds an entire new layer.

bea ✨ I always found it interesting, like once I hear a story I have to know what happens. I like to hear all the details of a case, even though most of the time I get sad thinking about the victims and their loved ones.

Tarah I grew up on the X-Files & Dark Shadows so I've always liked the darker stuff. I'm interested in forensic science, medical topics, & abnormal & criminal psychology. Plus I love a good mystery. True crime just wraps my interests up in a sad but incredibly interesting little ball. I think it prepares the listener/viewer/reader for the darker parts of humanity & what to watch out for. It makes you more aware of your surroundings & prepares you for what you should do in a worst case scenario.

Ki i guess it’s just interesting to hear about people committing such violent crimes because it’s hard to imagine why someone would want to do something so messed up

Bex Dawson I'm intrigued by criminal and deviant psychology. Also, I think it's important for people to hear the stories of those who haven't received justice. The more the stories are heard, the higher the chances of solving cases. Finally, true crime stories have equipped me with information on potential threatening situations so I can better protect myself.
