Topic: Nimona
Just finished watching Nimona and oh my gosh I loved it. It was simultaneously really funny and depressing. I loved the LGBTQ+ themes, both up front and hidden symbolism. So much of it mirrored LGBTQ+ experiences in real life and how society treats queer people. I'd love to hear all of your thoughts on the movie, but keep it respectful please.

Edwyn Rainey I loved how she described her shapshifting in saying, "It feels worse when I don't do it," and the way she avoids outright calling herself a girl reminds me so much of the trans and gender non-conforming experience for me personally. That was so awesome to see

Alexandra Kinzel I think any trans or nonbinary person (myself included) especially AFAB people could relate to it. I love that she says she wouldn't die die, but she wouldn't be living as it describes the experience perfectly. Plus, I love some genderfluid rep

Statler or Waldorf I love how intrinsically queer it is, queerness is built into the fabric of the story not just metaphorically and it would not work the same way otherwise

Alexandra Kinzel Between two gay characters in an open relationship and a genderfluid shape-shifter, this movie does not shy away from representation. The story wouldn't work if the main characters were straight or Nimona had some other power. The story and the way it's told is so beautiful simply because of how much queer culture is woven into the story
