Russ Hoyt @DjCount Oh, so you noticed the urgency with which I posted this article to be sure that everyone was aware of this critical information and had it available to contemplate while they waited for the release of the film. 👍 for using your keen skill of observation! 😆

Brandon Reed Well, *I* wasn't aware of it, and *I* think it's news, @DjCount, lol. In answer to the question, the pervasiveness of the subtitle as a titling convention is a result of decades of reboots, remakes, soft-reboots, and sequels. Deciding to ditch the subtitle in favor of a Donner-style "Superman," a Burton-style "Batman," a Raimi-style "Spiderman," or even a Favreau-style "Iron Man" evokes a return to simplicity, a simple superhero movie without all those considerations. Is it actually that? No. It's still the first entry in a pre-planned shared universe. But it's a change in how Gunn wants to present the movie to the world. Alternatively, it could also indicate a change in plot or theming from first draft to final. There may be less focus on the past and the future and more focus on The Man of Tomorrow, himself, as a character.
