So I'm really curious. Do all the mainline ani.ated Disney movies exist at the same time? Example: Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene were seen in Arendelle at the end of Frozen. But could Belle and Adam or Ariel and Eric hop on a ship and go visit Anna and Kristoff? Or would they be centuries apart?

Jojo It's theorized by many people. They don't exist all at the same time, but they definitely can exist in the same place.

Iman It depends on the fairy tales they are based on. The story of Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella don’t exist in the time or place of the other movies because they both take place in France which is a real place. However, the other Disney movies take place in the same universe because they take place in fictional locations.

Road Master Beauty and the Beast & Cinderella are obviously set in France. But I'm fairly certain the movies never actually say that. It could also be argued that the royal family from Cinderella is not the direct royal line or even originally royalty at all. But the curse that effected Prince Eric, effected the entire kingdom. Because, despite him clearly being royalty, NOBODY remembers him or his castle. **THEORY** Eric is the true heir/prince/king. Perhaps he was residing in the summer palace or something. But the curse made everybody forget him. Charming and his father are royalty, but not the ruling line. Charming's dad is Eric's uncle or something. They simply slid into the roles. As for the other places being fictional: not necessarily. Frozen is set in the kingdom of Arendelle. Obviously, there is no country currently called Arendelle. But the kingdom from the movie is clearly real-world Norway. Which is easily explained. Many countries names have changed over the centuries. Even today, as I understand it, Germans call their country Deutschland and the city of Munich, Munchen. @jojomojo_95

Brandon Reed I don't know about a shared universe, but I can comment on time settings. Frozen 2 is clearly set in the 19th or 20th Century, as photography is referenced. That's one of the few Disney Princess movies to reference a definitively modern invention. Presumably, Tangled is set not more than a decade before the original Frozen, going by the cameo of a still-young Rapunzel and Eugene. Based on the state of China and the invasion of the Shanyu, Mulan is set between 133 BC and AD 89, centuries and a continent away from most of the remaining Disney movies. Hercules is presumably set during the time of Sophocles (the Fifth Century BC), since Hercules mentions that he was surprised at the content of "that Oedipus thing," implying that Oedipus Rex is a new play. The Princess and the Frog is explicitly set during the Jazz Age. Aladdin is set in an indefinite time and place. Some postulate that it's set in a distant, post-apocalyptic future based on the Genie's impersonations of people who (in a distant past) would have not existed yet. Strictly speaking, I think that's overanalyzing and not an intended interpretation, but it's worth mentioning if we're talking about setting.

Brandon Reed People used to think that the king and queen of Arandelle's wrecked ship was meant to be the shipwreck from The Little Mermaid, but Frozen 2 debunked that.

Brandon Reed He's native Arendelle royalty for multiple generations on one side. No telling about the other.

Brandon Reed I choose to believe that the Descendants movies are non-canon. Lol

Science Coach There is definitely a shared universe. The movie Wish is the origin story of that universe. It’s a clever and genius movie my whole family enjoyed.
