The Legend of Korra

"Great series."

"I wanted to love Korra so much, but it's just not nearly as good as the first show. It would be impossible to live up to TLA, but even on it own merits it falls short in most departments. The artstyle is beautiful, especially before the budget cuts for season 2, and it has one or two amazing characters; but it's plagued with an unentertaining and unchanging protagonist, a few just horrible writing decisions, and a few boring villains. A lot of what I did love initially (professional bending, using bending as blue collar jobs, and the concept of an avatar growing up in the shadow of Aang) are either straight up forgotten, or pushed to the wayside. It's still Avatar, and I'll recommend it because it does do a lot right, but it is so underwhelming. "

"Korra/the avatar is made redundant in her own show. Political reforms more successful than the avatar for non-bender discrimination. Gets played like a fiddle during the water tribe’s internal conflicts. Falls for the trap of the anarchists and almost gets killed. And the new air benders are a international peace keeper of sorts. Show would have been more interesting if they followed the idea of a world that doesn’t need an avatar but hindsight is 20/20. "

"While it can't beat its predecessor, it's still entertaining & worth watching. Moments with old characters are gold. The 2nd season has a story about the 1st avatar & that is also gold. Everything else kind of falls flat. Villians change every season & get more complex, which only makes their inevitable defeat worse. Like they are threats, but because they constantly change theres no true suspense. The last season especially has some problems. It is so busy trying to make a political statement that some of its best moments are overshadowed. For example, Toph shows up multiple times in the last season. While she is incredible, you have to trudge through a lot of other junk to get to her. Now I do enjoy the show, but rewatching is a pain. You may even love the show, until you really start thinking about it. You don't notice the inconsistent villians & the problems that come with that, until you realize that. It's like enjoying the Diary of Anne Frank as a simple story, then learning about the Holocaust. Not that theres a big revelation in Korra, just that as a consitent show it doesn't work. You will enjoy, maybe even love certain moments. Then you will also hate other episodes in total for what they mean to the franchise & avatar cycle. Spoiler time: Wow, you hung around this long but really, this is spoilers. If you haven't seen it i don't recommend reading, unless you just want to know. Korra loses her connection to the rest of the avatar cycle later in the series. This means Aang, Keyoshi, even Avatar Wan we fell in love with in season 2 is gone. She killed them cuz she was too weak to face her enemies. Happens, Aang couldn't defeat everyone alone. However, people constantly shower her with praise & say how good she is, yet never tell her the truth. Which is that she is clearly not as good of an avatar as people think. She can only fix this by getting stronger & she won't. All the "good" things she does are by accident or because she put the world in danger."

"Korra was fine I definitely thought avatar was better but it had it’s moments.The biggest problem I had was it felt so rushed. Like I remember the final villian not even having enough time to be fully developed. "

"Honestly this is so good. It's a real Sophie's choice between this one and the avatar. Funny, a fantastic story, great growth and dimensions. Binge worthy"
