"Re-watched this #fantasy_and_horror classic. This is the best of the original Child's Play trilogy, and maybe the best Chucky movie, altogether. The best horror films build tension and are highly atmospheric, and this one nails it. I feel like there are some points that it's trying to make regarding consumerism. We see Andy so absorbed in the Good Guys franchise that he's willing to implicitly trust his new doll, even when it's whispering terrible things to him, and threatening to kill him. Chucky certainly isn't the first killer doll, but, when Child's Play came out, I do believe that he was probably the best at being bad. Andy being so young and also such a focal point for the film and the killer ramps the tension up to 11. I couldn't help thinking of my own kids (I'm one of those people, now, apparently). Plus, Chucky's origin is a clever fantasy twist. Much better than a rogue A.I. chip, amirite? ;-)"
