I liked many elements but I couldn’t put my finger on what left me feeling ultimately disinterested…whether it was the editing (which felt jumpy and erratic) or if the tone was a little off (not funny enough to be funny, not sincere enough to be drama)…or if it was just too on the nose. I either wanted it to go harder and get real weird or be more or a character study, because it floated around being kind of a shrug. Appreciate the complexity of women and difficulty of motherhood being explored for sure, and Amy Adams is great, but it was ‘just okay’ for me. "

It was a little confusing at times - was it happening or was it a metaphor? Or both? This movie felt very much like an Arthouse film in many respects and that it was intended as a feminist anthem of sorts. UPDATE: I just learned that this is actually considered an Indie film rather than an Arthouse film. "
